DARE TO DREAM
What is now known as the Dare To Dream Children's Program began in 1987 as a
tutoring program for grammar school children primarily from the James A.
Cayce Homes.. It began as a partnership between Nancy Webb Kelly United
Methodist Church and Belle Meade United Methodist Church.
When Community Care Fellowship completed its new building on the property of
Nancy Webb Kelly Church, it became the third partner and the staff of CCF
assumed responsibility for leadership of the program and Belle Meade
provided the tutors.
In 1995 the program began to stress the importance of self esteem for the
children in addition to help with their school work. The importance of new
experiences and new attitudes about themselves was encouraged. The
possibility of reaching new and higher goals in life became an underlying
base to everything that was done, thus the name, DARE TO DREAM.
For twenty-one years Belle Meade Church has been a faithful partner
providing financial and people resources to make this program possible and
in doing so has helped to change to lives of countless children.
Currently fifteen to twenty children ages five through ten meet four days a
week after-school where they are given help with their school work, social
skills and are fed a healthy snack.
